There were many positive economic, political, technological and social effects from the impact of colonialism from Great Britain to Africa. There was economic growth, political development, technological improvements and social progression. The Great Britains were able to help advance the Africans in many positive ways. Africans benefited economically by the increase in market demand of African goods in international markets. More jobs were created for Africans because they needed labor that was really cheap and Africans were willing to work for less wages than the Britains demanded. The Africans learned business practices from the British such as how to manage agriculture and market trade. The standard of living was elevated as the Africans obtained new and better quality goods.
Africa was able to learn about organized government and politics and the benefits they can have within and between tribes. The British also helped bring democracy to Africa. This helped improve the judicial system and bring law and order to the land. They assisted in helping the tribes write treaties to keep peace among them.
This helped decrease issues among the tribes. The British also helped the Africans feel safer by defending them against their enemies.Technologically the Africans progressed in their agriculture practices. Sanitation in Africa was developed and this helped expand life expectancy rates.
Africa became more industrialized due to Britain’s influence. Transportation was expanded by adding railways and steam navigation. Communication was developed through the use of telegraphs. Africa greatly benefited from the social effects Britain had on them. Christianity was brought to Africa from Britain. Missions were built which helped the people.
Education was brought to the children. Reading, writing and math were taught to the Africans. Mostly through the missionaries which is another reason the Africans embraced the Christian faith.
The missionaries brought education and healthcare. Africans were able to learn English from the British. The people were able to learn more about their land and their own culture. However Britain had also left Africa very flawed. There were many cons to what Britain was doing in Africa. One way that Britain had shown that colonization had a bad impact on the people is they caused a change in the African way of life as well as economy.

Where they came from there was cold weather so they would wear lion skin to keep warm. When Britain came they brought commences, civilization, and Christianity. They have done this by the atlantic slave trade, the slave trade has been in Africa’s terrain for over 300 hundred years and had introduced the continents sophisticated systems of credit and exchange. One result of the increase in international trade was that indigenous African economy was subordinated to the interests of Europe.
This pattern of unbalanced trade continued into the period of colonialism and remains today. Although some slave raiding was done by European merchants, they still depended on the cooperation of local rulers to insure a steady supply of slaves for the market.
