The same article by Al Wazni, Muslim women are

The phenomenon became one of the social criticisms of many politicians and anyone involved in Feminists movements to argue for equality and no more patriarchal control over women. However, according to Anderson Beckmann Al Wazni who published an article called Muslim Women in America and Hijab, to many Muslim women the Western ways of portraying a woman as being hypersexualized and exposed is very contradictory of Islamic beliefs. Islam is all about being modest so that dignity can be maintained when men and women interact.

According to an article by Al-Islam.org called Law and Practices: Why Do Muslims Have a Dress Code, to Muslims, a Hijab is not a sign of inferiority but rather many women feel respected, protected, and confident as well as not objectified while wearing the Hijab. They see it as a way of being able to protect themselves from preconceived body images portrayed in society and to protect themselves from being objectified from the public. Not only that but according to a study in the same article by Al Wazni, Muslim women are very satisfied with their bodies and are at a lesser risk of eating disorders because of being covered and having the right mind set.  Consequently, the Hijab is not and should not always be seen as a sign of being in need of saving. When Muslim women fully accept the reasoning behind the Hijab and only do it for themselves and for Allah, or God, then it is not a sign of them being in need of saving because they are practicing their religious beliefs.

Western society should gain a deeper knowledge of the Hijab before attempting to defend Muslim women for the wrong reasons and end up hurting them instead of what they call “saving” them. Hijab bans and oppression needs to be stopped. Let women express their religious beliefs. Let women be free and not feel suppressed to others.             Muslim women have to face daily obstacles that they do not deserve to experience. They too have dreams and goals just like any other person and these can be easily destructed due to people’s judgments and misconceptions. The event of September 11, 2011 has caused for
