The evaluation and selection of investment projects require too much information analysis before taking a decision. The objective of this research is to explain how to reduce the duration and effort of this first phase by taking a set of requirements to build a specific model for the business intelligence (BI) system of a company.(BI): Set of mathematical models and analysis methods to systematically exploit the available data to recover useful information and knowledge to support complex decision-making processes. The first stages in building a BI solution are the viability study and the elicitation of requirements for the elaboration of the DWH model.
This first process comprises four tasks: Discovery, classification and organization, identification of priorities and creation of models. These stages are essential for the success of the BI project, they are the most time-consuming processes, require very good communication with the stakeholders and a very good understanding of their needs in order to develop a high quality model of the BI system.BI consolidates data and presents them in ways that help users to make informed decisions faster. For the collection and storage of data involves data warehousing (DW) technologies. DW combine data from multiple systems, homogenize differences between the systems, makes reporting easier, reduce the load on production systems, ensure consistency of transitions between systems and ensure long-term storage of data.I should like to close by saying some benefits of implementing a business intelligence system: Get insights to make accurate and timely business decisions.Identify new revenue opportunities.
