Over the course of a year, an average driver emits 4.7 metric tons of carbon dioxide into the environment. Through the decades, technology has advanced to better everyone’s lives as seen through cars. Although technology has improved lives and given opportunities it has also given detriment towards societies health. Solar energy, jobs, and new technology are essential tools that potentially obliterate planet earth. Although solar energy has contributed to the action of eliminating the use of fossil fuels, it still requires land, water and materials to build the equipment. Such jobs that require building these tools, as well as other jobs, are at risk for being exposed to toxic gases which could lead to death. Also contributing to the death of our planet, are new technology and discoveries that potentially produce harmful gases damaging our beloved home. As much as society contributes to ways in reestablishing, reshaping and converting Earth into a better living environment, we will always affect it badly.Solar energy, although it helps, contributes to deterioration of the planet. Solar energy is known for eliminating the use of fossil fuels by replacing it with the sun’s solar waves. Meanwhile it it does not ultimately have the same impacts as fossil fuels, it still uses land, water, and other toxic chemicals. Solar panels and other such solar technology occupy land to function. While global warming is occuring, much land is being destructed with the change of temperature, climate, and other factors. Earth is limited to land and human population is increasing every second. Global warming is causing land to be uninhabitable and sometimes toxic. Land holds all essentials to human life. If solar energy requires land, it would ultimately lead to few resources for survival. This includes water. Water is a vital resource for all living organisms. Once it is gone, we will probably never see it again on this planet. Water is used to produce these solar technologies also. Such technology that use water for its production are concentrating solar thermal plants. These need water for its cooling system. Depending on the plants design, location, and type of cooling system, they can withdraw up to 650 gallons of water per megawatt-hour (Environmental impacts of solar power). Solar technology also uses materials to be able to function. Materials types are varied but some also require chemicals that be deadly. Toxic chemicals such as gallium arsenide, copper-indium-gallium-diselenide, and cadmium-telluride can be found in solar technology (Environmental impacts of solar energy). Most of these materials are found in the technology used to purify the atmosphere. If the technology is not properly disposed or taken care of correctly, there could be potential harm towards society and the environment. As society evolves and becomes more aware of global environmental issues, it continues to use more solar energy. Whilst it may help, we still hurt ourselves and environment in the process.
