Natalie Wilson              Miss. Marks World LiteratureJanuary 22, 2018             Informative Essay: Eating Disorders    Researchers are finding that eating disorders are caused by social norms of wanting to have an ideal fit look, depression and biological genetics. In general, behaviors and attitudes indicate that weight loss, intense dieting and controlling of any food intake are some primary concerns and signs of having an eating disorder. People with this disorder often struggle with body image and this disrupts their normal activities with unusual eating habits to alter their appearance.     People with anorexia nervosa may see themselves as overweight even when they are extremely underweight and will constantly weigh themselves because they are self conscious.

Eating only minimal amounts of food can take longer than it does for those without this disorder because of the thoughts of how food will affect their figure.     People with bulimia nervosa have recurrent and frequent episodes of eating unusually large amounts of food and feeling a lack of control during these episodes. These episodes are when a person will consume a wide variety of food in a short amount of time then after having the urge or forcing themselves to vomit.
