I had no trouble getting her. It is nice to meet you and be at thisshow.Fareed Zakaria: It is nice to meet you too sir and we are pleasure to have you here. So let us start with this show.Miroslav Laj?ák: Yes, please.Fareed Zakaria: In spite of there being wars between Indiaand Pakistan, there are few people who still would like to be together and onthe other side there are few who do not wish to even talk about them.

What isyour say about this, sir?Miroslav Laj?ák: It is good that there are people who wouldstill want to be together even after the partition. As far as those who are notwilling to keep any connection are concerned, it could be due to the wars thattook place between the countries or maybe even that there must be a member intheir family who was an army officer and was killed during the war.Fareed Zakaria: And what do you think about the poemwritten by the girl living in India to the girl in Pakistan which was publishedin the Coimbatore times.  Miroslav Laj?ák: Well I did not hear of it until it gotviral. It was all over the media. If I am not wrong it came on the news aswell. The poem is written by a girl named Shivani Gupta who is a Delhi-basedpoet, psychologist, researcher and a performance artist. In her poem, she asksthe girl staying in Pakistan about her favoritemovies and songs.

Fareed Zakaria: Yes sir. It seems like they are having aconversation as if anybody living like neighborswould do. The poem has been written as if Shivani and the girl from Pakistanwere long lost friends. Miroslav Laj?ák: That is true. This poem is basically aconversation which Shivani is trying to make with the girl from Pakistan.

Fareed Zakaria: What do you think if both the countries,India and Pakistan were united and worked together?Miroslav Laj?ák: It would be great and it is only possibleif the countries accept to be united.Fareed Zakaria: What do you think is the reason behind themnot uniting?Miroslav Laj?ák: The main reason could be the loses thatthe countries had to face in the form of their family member’s lives as well asthe property.Fareed Zakaria: Okay. As a member of the media team, I haveseen that the reporters only have the news regarding what Pakistan does toIndia and not what India does to Pakistan. By does, I mean to say harm orgenerate wars between the countries. Is it that India does not harm Pakistan atall or is it that they start the war or rivalry at all?Miroslav Laj?ák: I do not think that is possible. AsPakistan is not silent and so is not India.

The motive behind media not puttingforth the news about India harming Pakistanis to not let the world know the truth…Fareed Zakaria: What about the Kashmir dispute that hasbeen going on for so long between the two countries?Miroslav Laj?ák: Well, when the partition was happening in1947 and when it was announced by Mountbattenat a press conference it was decided that India will have Pakistan. During thistime, it was also decided that the Muslims living in the country would shift toPakistan and all other religions would stay in India.1Fareed Zakaria: Then why is this dispute still on? Why arethe countries not coming to a conclusion?Miroslav Laj?ák: Actually the problem is that very fewpeople living in Kashmir would like to shift to Pakistan, not everybody. Fareed Zakaria: I also heard that because of the new primeminister that is Narendra Modi, the citizens of Kashmir are not very happy withthe work, the prime minister has been doing for the betterment of Kashmir.

Doyou think that the prime minister is biased with the state of Gujarat and doesnot work at all for the other states?Miroslav Laj?ák: Well, is not it obvious what he is doing.I mean even if I were the prime minister or say if I was in the place of the PrimeMinister, Narendra Modi, I would do the same. For example, if I was born andsettled in Gujarat and have seen how my state is, I would want the state to getbetter. As he has been the chief minister of Gujarat, he improvised on its infrastructureas well as on the other buildings and roads. Fareed Zakaria: If he can work on Gujarat then why not theother states of India? Why be partial toGujarat only? Why not content the other states especially Kashmir as it hasbeen suffering the most?Miroslav Laj?ák: I prefer the answer to this coming fromNarendra Modi itself as his opinions and plans must be completely different. And I am sure that he has already planned forthe betterment of other states as well. Fareed Zakaria: Thank you so much, sir, for your patienceand for answering all the questions. We hope to meet you very soon.

Miroslav Laj?ák: Thank you again for inviting me on thisshow, it was a pleasure to be here. 1 https://www.google.co.in/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_enIN771IN771=who+announced+the+partition+of+india=X=0ahUKEwjvxY2wx_zYAhXMO48KHSGWBEIQ1QIIpQEoBA Fareed Zakaria: Good morning, Miroslav Laj?ák.
