ICT IN HEALTH

Why ICT in HEALTH?

INTRODUCTION

The broad use of digital in the health systems of developed
societies, has implications for different actors in the health-disease process
and the process of providing care to the community. This area must be
considered from the view point of patients, from the outlook of health
professionals and, also from the perspective of health organizations. When a
lot of developed countries had integrated Information and Communication Technology
(ICT) in their care processes, a new perspective on controlling information and
allowing the use of data for health research to improve patient care it is
opening. In this new care setting, health professionals, and particularly
nurses, have a key role, raising the need for specific education and training
to be able to respond to this new scenario. It involves a process of adaptation
for the professionals. At the same time, the joined and implementation of ICT
in the health sector, involves a process of adaptation for the patients or
users and for the health institutions. Before we do move onto all the benefits,
roles, factors and risk it’s worth talking about just how technology is been
used in our societies. It is located everywhere in medicine. Think about the x
ray machines, MRI scanners, and even the research equipment used daily. Reasons
for certain medical beliefs. They also have a better knowledge of how doctors
or nurses come to agree. Those who don’t need to ask immediate medical
attention can reduce their fear over their health. This aids to improve the
health sin

BENEFITS

These are some benefits that
have contributed to the successful adoption of technology in health in our
societies: Improved capacity for connection between Doctors and Patients: With
technology being widely access, there are opportunity that everyone has some
sort of access to doctor and health websites. These platforms can create chat
boxes and instant messengers, where real doctors and nurses can monitor
communications. When a patient put across a question, the doctors and nurses
can gives positive answers and share their thoughts and advice better ability
to communicate is important for keeping the health protected. It helps to keep
the questions over information system to a minimum and reduces the number of
people lining up in the hospital with fears they are dying. The people online
can read the symptoms and share their beliefs based on them, supporting to
reduce worry. Individuals who do need to seek medical help will be able to get
to the hospital or their personal doctor right from there. They can take the
medical report of the chats to help with a feedback of the symptoms and working
through the fear leads to stress and that leads to high blood pressure and
other health challenges .People who run away from doctors fearing that they are
wasting time can get confirmation that they need to get the help. That’s the
anxiety of people thinking they are mad for their minds processes, so they have
more confidence in telling all their health issues with their doctor. When chat
boxes aren’t existence, telephones have made it easier to communicate and talk
to a doctor or nurse. This is the case with many emergency medical phone
numbers, who can then book appointment out of hours’ arrange when the case is
important. People seen as soon as possible take their health seriously. It also
helps to minimize a lot of times they will have to visit a doctor and keep the
appointed times down since the little sickness are taken care of before they
can divert into something very serious.

Higher capacity to complete
analysis issues: The internet has really opened the mind to seeking
information. We all seek to turn to Google, named it Dr. Google. The search
engine gives you access to enter your symptoms or ask questions about the
symptom to look out all the diseases that involve it. People look through a lot
of other causes to know the chances of suffering from this sickness. It is very
important when it comes to knowing whether to speak to a doctor. They
personally can take the information and use it to decide whether their health
needs quick attention. They also use that little research to get onto the chat
boxes to receive advice from the doctors and nurses, as mentioned above. There
are many more reputable medical websites. They include links to official
studies and reports to aid you to access all the medical information that you
could have. They will recommend both pharmaceutical and herbal remedies to
support you save money and place your health first. Critically reviews the
reputation of any medical platform before beginning to look through the
information.

Higher medication Opportunity for various brands of sickness
and Disorders It’s no secret that treatments have advanced in recent years in
technology in the health sector to such that some sickness is virtually
unknown. Vaccinations and types of medical improvement have completely done
away with the likes of smallpox and led in such a way that where polio is now
not much common and treatable. Some of the advances have only come in the last
few years, and are all due to the spread of technology in the society. The
ability to do much research and check without using animals and humans. There
are ways to create vaccinations and treatments without putting people at risk,
doubling the opportunity for a good betterment of life. Looking at how HIV
treatments have changed since the disease was noted in the early 1980s. But as
at now at a point where the virus cannot have the

Chance to grow into AIDS. We have treatments for minor and
major sicknesses. Even a person with cancer diagnosis have long life betterment
than they would have gotten over the years. This technologies have the ability
to diagnose and treats completely cancerous cells diseases. Even though not all
that are done successful, but some have the positive steps and that is the
advancements in technology in our society.

Enhanced forecast of
examination and growth assurance

Technology has aided us to improve the calculation of a
diagnosis. Doctors now have data in one place and can refer to all the symptoms
at once. Doctors now have formulas to work out best on when an outbreak occurs.
Let us use the pre-diabetes findings. Supposing
you were told that you are a pre-diabetic, this would mean that you that you
risk the chance of having it. Before technology improves, you would have found
out about diabetes only when you started suffering from it. There wouldn’t have
been any opportunity to take restraints to help alternate/change your living habits
to avoid it from happening.   In some
ways, you wouldn’t noticed the side effects. You wouldn’t have perceived that
you had a disease until it caused a serious medical problem and /or even death.  Doctors did not have the chance to foresee
anything because it was so hard to get all the information. Technology has made
it possible for information to be kept in one place, updated in real life. Once
blood test results come back, they can be added directly
to your file; a file that is visible by any doctor by looking up your own
details. This is where family doctor has your hospital details, even if the
records have nothing to do with the sickness. Furthermore, you wouldn’t have
even known that you have the side effects. Doctors didn’t have the ability to
predict anything because it was so hard to get all the information. Thanks to
technology for an improvement on cervical screening for women.

Rapid and higher correct
examination of position

Although the prediction side of medical analysis is improved
in our societies, the know-how has also grown with the accuracy of a diagnosis
in the society. Now, doctors gather information in one place and are able to
keep an eye on results more closely. Most of the time doctors don’t get all the
information. In other aspects, the situation is so widespread that doctors
haven’t even bothered to take note of them. Instead, individuals are treated
for conditions that are more common or more believed to have. The treatments do
nothing, and by the time they are diagnosed with the right condition, there is
nothing they can do. People lose out on time with their family due to a lack of
diagnosis or incorrect treatment. They lose out because the diagnosis has just
taken too long—and not because of inaccuracy for the doctors.

FACTORS

Three factors that have contributed to the
successful adoption of the technology in the society:

Enhanced
tolerant charge and employee competence: Technology has causes patient health care
safer and reliable than before. Nurses and doctors use mobile
computers to record a patient’s medical details and see that they are doing the
right treatment. Outcomes of lab tests, accesses of important signs, and
medicine request are done technologically send into a main database that can be
accessed later. And as more institutions are adopting electronic health
records, patients have easy way to get to their own information so they understand
what is being done to them.

 Physicians are
effortless to grasp and choice at their operations:  the access of smart phones
can help doctors reach a lot of pages of medical textbooks. They also use online
medical databases to quickly check on studies and information about patient.
Technology has also helped doctors to have access to their e-mail, texts,
videos, and conference facilities to seek help from other doctors across world.
This is also called telemedicine, usually helpful for doctors and patients in
the society and under-developed countries. Without transferring, doctors can seek
professionals from other world to diagnose, treat, and research conditions
without the help of matured hospital. Telemedicine
was used accurately in 2010 Haiti earthquake and will no fear be polished for
future use

Choice
medication and less discomfort: Let us not close our minds on how technology has transformed
healthcare by bringing in new
machines, medicines, and treatments that prove lives and changed the chance of recovery for societies
and the entire world wide. Not
only do matured medical practitioners help patients recover straight; the new technology
trend has also changed research so professionals can take healthcare even more seriously.
On this note this is a true means by which new technology improved.  The life of someone who suffered from chronic adverse killer disease is only one example
of how lives are being improved in an efficient, way every time.

ROLES

Roles governments might have played
towards the successful adoption and effective utilization of this technology by
society:

Advertisement: this is
whereby the government using technology to organized programs on public radios,
TVs, social media and also have access to them on our various devices base on
health related issues example the outbreak of diseases like tuberculosis, malaria,
HIV, H1N1 FLU and AIDS to educate the society most especially what is going on
in the society now and how to get involve in health screenings and know the importance
of health and also know how to detect things early.

Hand- in- Hand Agreement with the
traditional rulers: the Government has recently implemented
something sort of this, coming in agreement with the traditional rulers in the
society between the doctors, nurses and chiefs to help organized health   programs through the means of using technology
to educate the society to help talk and teach everyone in the society to realize
how important heaths issues are and how easy they can detect them. The better the
knowledge the easier it can be treated.

Lastly
through the means of technology the Government can help organize free health screening
programs through the help of the media groups in the society. Which can be done
through the move from house to house in the society. This immunization or the
free screening program on other diseases like hypertension, diabetes and HIV
and AIDS.

RISKS

The possible risks to society by
continued use of this technology:

1.
In the Journal of
Telemedicine and Tele care, it was found out that manual phone call reminders
to patients before their appointment was more effective in curbing missing appointment
that sending automated reminders.

2.
Seclusion and guarantee matter. Privacy and security risks are exposed
to hackers. Identity theft and unsanctioned access and exploitation of patient information is at risk.

3.
Digital worker form and clinical decision support may increase duplicate medication
order errors, according to a study published in Journal of the
American Medical Informatics Association. The researchers found that duplicate medication errors
increased from 48 before CPOE implementation to 167 after implementation.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion,
it’s surprising to move back and see just how far our society has come
technologically. If someone from 100 years ago quickly launched themselves in
today’s world, they would think they had been teleported into another era. From
improved practical competence to high level in patient care, the healthcare innovation
has improved the whole experience for both tolerant and medical Doctors.
