E-commerce is generally known as
Electronic marketing. E-commerce is fast gaining ground as an accepted and used
business example. It is a process
of buying or selling products online. E-commerce draws on automation technologies
as mobile, electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, internet
marketing, online transaction processing, electronic data interchange (EDI),
inventory management systems and automated data collection systems.
Online shopping is the technique
by which customers directly purchase goods or services from seller in actual-time,
without an intermediary service, over the internet. It is a form of e-commerce.
This project is an attempt to provide the advantages of online shopping to
customers of a real shop. E-commerce helps buying the products in the shop
anywhere through internet by using an android device. Thus the customer will
get the products of online shopping and home delivery from his favorite shop.
Modern e-commerce normally uses website
for at least one part of the transaction’s life cycle although it may also use
other technologies such as e-mail. Typical e-commerce transactions include the
purchase online products (Amazon) and music purchases (iTune Store), and to a
less extent, customized/personalized online stock store inventory services.
There are three types of e-commerce: online retail, electric markets, and
online auctions. E-commerce is supported by electronic business.
The objective of this project is to
develop a general view of e-commerce store where all frozen food of all brands
are available. Customer can be buy from the comfort of home through the
An online store is a virtual store on
the Internet where customers can browse the catalog and select products of
interest. If the item is in stock the selected items are placed in a shopping
cart. At checkout time, the items in the shopping cart will be presented as an
order. At that time, bill-to and ship-to address will be needed to complete the
transaction. Usually, the customer will be asked to fill in or select a billing
address, a shipping address, a shipping time, and payment method and payment
information such as credit card number. An e-mail notification is sent to the
customer as soon as the order is placed.

companies. About 80% of e-commerce is of this type. Examples – Intel selling
microprocessor to Dell.
Business-to-Consumer (B2C): Business-to-consumer e-commerce, or commerce between
companies and consumers, involves customers gathering information, purchasing
physical goods or receiving products over an electronic network.
Examples – Dell selling a laptop to
Consumer-to-Consumer (C2C): Consumer-to-consumer e-commerce
or C2C is simply commerce between private individuals or customers.

Consumer-to-Business (C2B): Consumer to Business transactions occur when a company places
a job online and businesses bid on the project.
Examples – Food companies may ask
food bloggers to include a new product in a recipe, and review it for readers
of their blogs.
Business-to-Administration (B2G): Business to Administration of e-commerce encompasses all
transactions conducted online between companies and public administration.
Examples – Fiscal, social security,
employment, legal documents and registers.
Consumer-to- Administration (C2G): In consumer to administration e-commerce, the ‘consumer’ is
also selling their goods or services to the administrative sector.
Examples – Teachers offering distance
learning services, Tax return filing service.

Process of E-commerce:
§ Sitting at computer, customer wants to order products online.
§ Web browser links back-and-forth over
the internet with a web server that handle the store’s website.
§ The web server forwards customer’s order to the order manager.
§ The order manager inquiries to find out whether what the customer wants is available
§ If the items are not in stock, the stock system can order new supplies
from the wholesalers or manufacturers.
§ The stock manager confirms whether
the items are in stock or suggests an estimated delivery date when supplies
products will be received.
§ If the items are in stock, the order
manager continues to process it.
§ It communicates with a merchant system to take payment using
the customer’s credit or debit card number.
§ The merchant might make extra checks
with the customer’s own bank computer.
§ The bank computer checks whether the customer has enough funds.
§ The merchant authorizes the
transaction to go ahead, though funds will not be completely transferred until
several days later.
§ The order manager confirms that the
transaction has been successfully processed and notifies the web server.
§ The web server shows the customer a web
page confirming that his/her order has been processed and the transaction is

This system involves its own database
to be maintained. As the information or details about the products are stored
in the database (like mysql) for the server side functionalities.
The Server process is for dealing
with the customers detail and the items that are shipped to different locations
based on the addresses provided by the customers.
The application design contains two
modules one is for the customers who wish to buy the articles. And another is
for the store owners who maintains and updates the information regarding to the
articles and about the customers.
The end user to use this product are
the common people for whom the application is to be hosted on the web and the
admin maintains the database.
The application that is deployed on
the customer’s database like RDBMS, the information regarding the items are
highlighted and forwarded from the database for the customer (front view) based
on the choice through the menu list and based on all these searches and
transactions the database of all the products are updated at the end of each
The entries for products, into the
application can be made through various screens designed for various levels of
users. As soon as, the authorized personnel feeds the relevant data into the
system, several reports are generated based on the security policy used.
Future Scope of Online Shopping Project
§ The online shopping
system provides the 24×7 service, so that customers can visit the website and
place orders anytime they wish to.
§ The delivery system
works for 24×7 hours a week.
§ Some of the features
that can be modified and added to the system in future involve its
implementation by local shopkeepers, where shops will be providing an online
interface to customers for shopping and placing orders.
§ Some delivery persons
can perform their work. This will very benefit for the customers as it will
save their time, plus it’s add on for the shopkeepers also, as people will
continue to shop from local shops rather than preferring to super markets every
§ Also since the
deliveries from these local vendors will not be as time consuming as these days
flipkart, amazon etc. take, but rather will be delivered the same day of order
§ Else the shopkeeper
can ask the customer that the product will be available by next day, so if
he/she still wants to place the order, it can be done. Again return or exchange
will be easy since the delivery boy can even do it as the store is nearby.

for public benefit is also a great idea via which people can directly have a
conversation with some officials regarding any type of queries.
