Biography of Mother Teresa MotherTeresa of Calcutta whose real name is Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born on August26, 1910 at Skopje Macedonia and died last September 5, 1997.
Her parents areNikola and Drane Bojaxhiu. There are five children in the family in which sheis the youngest. Her older brother is named Lazar and her oldest sister isnamed Aga. When her father died, she lived an unhappy life. For her studies,she went to a public school in Skopje where she demonstrated religiousinterests as a member of a school society focused on foreign missions.
Then shewent on to become a nun at the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ireland.She founded the Missionaries of Charity who is helping the poorest of the pooraround the world. She was named one of the Greatest Humanitarians of the 20thcentury and won the Nobel Peace Prize Awardee for her service to humanity;these are just a few of her lifetime accomplishments. Themajor events in her life are: She left home at 18 to become a nun. She was sentto India on May 24, 1931, taught at St. Mary’s HighSchool in Calcutta and left the Convent School to work among the poorest of thepoor. She started an open-air school for slum children and finally receivedpermission to start her own order “The Missionaries of Charity” on October 7,1950. She was canonized by Pope Francis on September 4, 2016 as St.
Teresa ofCalcutta. She has made quite an impact on the society as the world has witnessedall her accomplishments that led to her being a significant figure in historywith the following: She is known all over the world for the work that she hasdone and accomplished in the lives of the poorest of the poor.
